Sociopath vs pathological liar9/2/2023 ![]() ![]() Even if the truth is hurtful or not what you were initially expecting to hear, at least you can count on a good friend to tell it to you straight. But she brought it on herself.Ī true friend would never even think about lying to you. Then, the liar is tangled and can't escape. This can really hurt if you believed this girl was one of your closest friends.Ī couple of lies turn into a web of lies. If you found out through the grapevine that she said something about you, but she hardcore denies it when you confront her, you know what that means.Īnd if she starts talking shit about another friend to you just for the sake of starting drama, that's never a good sign either. She always fails in the end because true friends will eventually see right through all the bullshit. Her process begins by sucking up to them (with lies), trying to gain their allegiance (with lies) and then feeding them more, more and more ridiculous lies. She assesses her way in, and attempts to stick her claws into your friends the sneaky AF way. She doesn't look you in the eye when she's talking about something important. You'll be happy when that toxic person is exposed, so she can't do any more damage to you or the people who matter to you the most. You should listen to that little voice inside your head telling you something's definitely up, and give your intuition some credit. When you have that suspicious sense in your stomach that something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. ![]() You have a sense in your stomach that things aren't adding up. If you notice any of these four signs, I hate to break it to you, but your so-called “friend” is most likely constantly lying to your face (and not to your face, too). and unfortunately cause a ton of destruction when they do. Pathological liars want to prevent being humiliated, so they lie. ![]() Howard Forman revealed, I think that if there is one central - almost universal - motivating factor, it is the avoidance of shame. The article refers to a new edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, which states pathological lying may potentially be a symptom of something larger, called “antisocial personality disorder.” She will most likely try to come between you and your squad with her consistent, hurtful lies. She thrives off drama and bringing other people down.Īccording to Medical Daily, “Pathologies are conditions or disorders that are innate to somebody's health.” Sadly, over the years, a girl unfortunately cannot avoid that friend who comes along, who doesn't actually turn out to be, well, a “friend” at all. I'd rather be completely alone than with a bunch of people who aren't real. Those are the friends you need to cherish, and I wouldn't trade one of them for a hundred of the other kind. And we all know forever friends come few and far between.Īuthor Sarah Ockler once wrote, In your entire life, you can probably count your true friends on one hand. I consider all my close gal pals my besties till the end. I've always been a firm believer that those who've dealt with, survived and successfully conquered high school (and college) drama together, stay together. ![]()
